Teach For Australia seeks well-rounded individuals with a track record of achievement - in their studies, work and extracurricular activities.

Degree Graduates

As a graduate from any discipline, you are looking to apply the skills gained from your academic experience in a challenging and meaningful way.  By joining Teach For Australia, you will assume a leadership role and apply your skills in the classroom to achieve the outcomes all students deserve.    Being a Teach For Australia Associate can also open many doors for graduates. With strong links to our corporate and public-sector partners, Associates have the opportunity to be mentored by public and private sector leaders and will have access to exclusive job opportunities, within and outside of the education sector.

Further, our corporate partners have recognised the high-quality of our recruits and the value of Teach For Australia as a graduate program through exclusive deferred entry schemes

Opportunities for Maths, Science and Engineering Graduates

While Teach For Australia accepts applications from all degree graduates (excluding education) we are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have studied or worked in fields relating to maths, science, engineering and ICT.

There is an urgent need for maths, science and ICT teachers in Australia. According to an Australian Education Union Survey of school principals, 28 per cent of schools employ maths teachers who do not have the required training to teach mathematics.

Teaching maths and science offers you the unique ability to see the education gap closing, with results that are quantifiable. This is an opportunity to put your knowledge to work - not just with your degree but also your ability to set high expectations, analyse problems and respond to the individual needs of students. You will also be encouraged to creatively design your lessons to teach subject matter in new and innovative ways.

As an engineer I am passionate about science and technology and am well aware of the skill shortages in these fields in Australia. By participating in the Teach for Australia program I hope to inspire students, who may not have considered it, to continue studying maths and science.

Successful people in engineering and IT need more than excellent technical knowledge; they need great interpersonal skills, passion and top leadership qualities. We search for graduates who are passionate about their work and feel their ideas have the potential to change the world. These are the exact qualities that Teach For Australia Associates exhibit.

Working Professionals

The Teach For Australia program is not just for those completing their courses this year or recent graduates. We welcome applications from all degree graduates regardless of your graduation date.  Schools and students will greatly value the skills and experiences that you can bring from your time in the workplace.
