What happens after you apply?
- Phone interview: If your online application is successful, you’ll be invited to participate in a phone interview. You’ll chat to a Teach For Australia representative for approximately 30 minutes about your application. This will allow us to better understand your experiences and motivations.
- Selection day: If you progress to this stage, you’ll be invited to a day of assessment activities including one-on-one interviews, a group activity and a sample teaching lesson.
- Offer and placement: Once an offer is received and accepted, the process of matching you to an eligible partner school will begin. The placement process takes into account the subjects that you’re eligible to teach, the flexibility of your placement preferences and the context and requirements of our partner schools. In 2017, 48% of Associates moved interstate for their placement. Whilst we strive to take your preferences into account, willingness to be placed where the need is greatest increases chances of successful placement. We aim for placement to be confirmed by November, allowing you time to connect with your school and plan for potential relocation.
