There is a three year achievement gap between Australia’s best and worst performing school students. Worse, this gap is largely defined by socioeconomic, geographic and ethnic lines. Digital Communications and Media Senior Officer
  • Department: Media, Marketing and Communications

  • Reports to: Media, Marketing and Communications Senior Manager
  • Location: Melbourne
  • Employment type: Full time (12 month contract with strong potential for extension)

The purpose of the Digital Communications and Media Senior Officer is to assist the Media, Marketing and Communications Senior Manager to improve awareness and understanding of Teach For Australia among key stakeholders, leading to action that supports the achievement of organisation goals.

The primary focus of the role is digital publishing and online engagement, campaign marketing and content development. The Digital Communications and Media Officer also assists with media engagement.

The role requires close working relationships and direct collaboration with all internal departments. It is of critical importance in supporting the long-term growth, sustainability and impact of Teach For Australia.

Senior Advisor, Policy and Government Relations

For Teach For Australia to continue its work, it relies on support from the Federal Government (main funder) and State and Territory Government’s (key funders with the primary responsibility for schooling), as well as support from philanthropy and Associates.

The work of Government Relations at Teach For Australia includes:

  • Developing propositions to continue Teach For Australia in ways that support the education goals of Federal, State and Territory governments;
  •  Engaging with the education portfolio, Ministers, MPs, officials and advisers to secure commitments and/or maintain key relationships and support for Teach For Australia;
  •  Negotiating contracts that allow Teach For Australia to pursue its mission while meeting government requirements;
  • Securing ongoing commitment and financial contributions from existing partners (Victoria, ACT, NT, Western Australia and Tasmania);

State Manager – Victoria

  • Employment type: Full Time, Maximum Term Contract, ending 31 December 2018 (potential for extension)

The State Manager – Victoria leads Teach For Australia’s programmatic work towards improved educational outcomes for the students, schools and communities we serve in Victoria and is responsible for:

  • Developing TFA’s vision for impact in Victoria, ensuring that the broader TFA community is engaged and has a shared commitment to ending educational inequity;
  • Setting Victoria’s goals towards realising this vision, and leading the cross-functional Victorian State Team to plan, execute and regularly review their own work to align with these goals;
  • Managing the school engagement, placement, and employment processes in Victoria so that the target number of placements can be achieved;
  • Owning TFA’s partnership with school principals, employers and regulatory bodies to enable effective placement conditions for Associates, and ongoing support for the TFA program; and
  • Development and manage the implementation of the regional component of TFA’s Initial Intensive.
