Associate development and support

Throughout their two-year program, Associates study towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching (Teach For Australia) from the University of Melbourne's Graduate School of Education .

 In summary, the program:

  • Represents a new vision for teacher education that embraces an applied clinical practice model
  • Combines demanding tertiary study and intensive experience in schools through a two-year teaching placement as a para-professional with a reduced teaching load.

Associates study through a combination of intense on-campus blocks of study (lectures, seminars, tutorials and workshops), individual reflection and journal writing and self-paced distance study.

Intensives are held during school holidays.

A Training and Leadership Adviser, who is managed by Teach For Australia, provides the critical link between theory and practice in the classroom. The Training and Leadership Adviser works closely with the Associate's In-School Mentor, and Clinical Specialist (MGSE) to support and develop the Associate over the two years.
