Associate employment conditions
Associates are matched to schools based on their subject areas, the curriculum needs of the school and the capacity of the school to support the Associate.
All Associates have at least one undergraduate degree and are granted Permission To Teach by the Victorian Institute of Teaching in subject areas related to their studies. Associates must teach within their Permission To Teach subject areas.
The school or relevant department is the Associate's employer.
Associates are on fixed-term contracts for two years teaching as para-professionals. At the completion of their placement they are receive full teacher registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
Associates are placed in clusters of at least two per school or campus to enable peer support.
Associates teach at a reduced workload (0.8 FTE) to enable them to complete their studies and receive support from their In-School Mentor, Clinical Specialist and Training and Leadership Adviser.
Government schools are able to receive funding support to enable the time release of the Associate and their In-School Mentor.
