Through the selection process, candidates are assessed against eight competencies based on evidence of effectiveness in the classroom. In this series, we explore how to best address each of these competencies in your application.
Are you a clear and confident communicator and are you able to influence and motivate others? Do you have maturity and presence? Are you an active listener?
The “Communication and influencing ability” competency is your chance to show us your listening and communication skills.
Being a teacher is not meant to be easy. You fill face some difficult situations: some days, you will feel as though your students are not listening, and it will be hard to keep control.
We look for candidates who can demonstrate their ability to motivate others and confidently communicate their intended message. As a teacher, this is a pivotal skill which you will practice and hone during the program.
A candidate who meets benchmark in this competency is a clear and confident communicator, and is able to influence and motivate others. They exhibit maturity and presence, and actively listen.
Remember: we will extend an offer to anyone who can prove that they meet the benchmark for each of our eight competencies. Reach out to one of our Recruitment and Advocacy Managers to learn more about how to address them in your application based on your experience.
Best of luck with your application and possibly, the start of this life-changing journey!
